Pros And Cons Of Medicines
There is a long running and widely discussed debate between the benefits of ancient Chinese herbal remedies and those of modern Western medicines. On one hand it seems unlikely that rhino horns or tigers’ testicles or other such things are really effective aphrodisiacs in any physiological, biological or biochemical sense. Such witch doctor medicine is surely only effective in a purely psychological sense. If a man truly believes that a potion made with the balls of such a fierce and omnipotent animal as a tiger will make him perform better in bed, then it may well do so just by improving his self confidence. The so called placebo effect can be very significant.
Tried and Tested Again and Again
However, on the other hand, those herbal remedies which the Chinese have been using and refining for many centuries clearly have much more than a placebo effect. More than a thousand and probably even thousands of years ago the Chinese were producing herbal medicines for a wide variety of ailments.
- ·Stomach aches
- ·Indigestion or constipation
- ·Pre Menstrual Tension
- ·Ear, nose and throat problems
All of the above and many other conditions causing discomfort could be cured with potions concocted from various herbs including roots, stems, leaves and flowers. The people of that vast nation, encompassing several different ethnicities and cultures, have great faith in their traditional medicines. Many otherwise skeptical Westerners have also testified to the effectiveness of Chinese herbal remedies. The causes of some people’s headaches and stomach aches have certainly changed due to modern junk foods and their synthetic chemical ingredients, but the soothing effects of those herbs clearly remain, especially for conditions not caused by monosodium glutamate, for example, or Tartrazine or Sodium Ethyl Para Hydroxybenzonate. If you can easily get hold of traditional Chinese herbal medicines, you should try them. Some may work for you and some may not, but the negative side effects are surely less than those of many modern medicines produced by multinational drug companies for profit.
The Bottom Line
For the executives of big corporations the meaning of life is the bottom line. Shareholders soon get rid of directors who show more interest in doing well than in making money. If a certain drug can be shown to have produced positive results in a supposedly independent trial then it will be put on the market and the results of that trial will be used in the advertising materials. It does not matter if similar trials were carried out twenty times in five different places and only one of them showed positive results. It does not matter if some of the trials showed negative results and most showed no benefit whatsoever. The law allows them to publish only the results which show their expensive new pharmaceutical product in a positive light. Of course the pharmaceutical companies are very generous with their campaign contributions for the people who revise such laws. Some enormous multinational corporations such as Unilever own and therefore control companies which make foods containing additives which cause headaches and numerous other health problems. The same corporations own and control drug companies which produce drugs that they claim solve those same health problems. Actually making people healthy would be bad business for the shareholders of the corporations that control the companies that make the drugs. Food additives that make food look good and make people feel bad are good for business for drug companies. People who take drugs every day, to reduce their various aches and pains, are inevitably damaging their health in the long run. Taking drugs frequently is detrimental to your immune system and your whole metabolism. Your whole body is negatively affected and your overall health is impaired.
R & R for Health
Travel and exercise are good for you, spiritually and physically. Rest and relaxation may be the best way to improve your health. Stop taking all those drugs which drug companies advise you to take. Try going skiing or pyramid climbing. Egypt is probably not the best destination for a skiing holiday but is probably the best place on Earth for pyramid climbing, and you can easily find cheap hotels in Egypt.
