With some warmer weather on the horizon, it is a good idea to get your garden ready and prepped for the sunshine. Being able to spend time outdoors is a must, right? But it can be hard to enjoy the time outside if you’re constantly thinking about all that needs to be done in the yard. So here are some things to get you prepped for the sun, so you can enjoy being outside when the time comes
Table and Chairs
If you don’t already have a table or chairs to sit out when you’re outside, then you’re missing out. Being able to dine al fresco can be so lovely and fun. Having people round to enjoy a BBQ and then have drinks until dusk can be just what the doctor ordered in the summer. If you’ve already got a table and chairs, then now could be the time to spruce it up. After the winter it might need a jet wash to get rid of dirt and moss that could have developed. You could also get some new seat cushions of the chairs, for example. You want to be comfy when you’re out there!
When you have people round to eat, especially if they have kids or the grandchildren are coming round, then it is a good idea to get some outdoor friendly dining accessories. Things like knives and forks will survive being dropped outside. But not your china plates or glass tumblers or wine glasses. So getting some more sturdy alternatives is a good idea. You could look for a full range of plastic glassware online, for instance. Then you’ll be at peace knowing that if something gets dropped outside, there won’t be shards of glass to clean up. Some plastic plates or bowls is a good idea too if you don’t want to go down the disposable route.
Having some kind of lighting in the yard is a great idea. It helps to create an ambiance and give light, of course, as well as it making the space look prettier. You could string up lights along the garden, or have them lined along the fencing. You could also get some spotlights that can be scattered in and around your garden and plants. Look for solar powered ones, so that you don’t have to connect them to a power source. Then they can charge up all night and then give out their light all night.
Umbrella or Patio Shade
If you’re going to be out in the sunshine, you will want to enjoy it without the heat of it becoming too overbearing. Which is why a large sun umbrella or parasol is a good idea. Often it will be with your table and chairs, but it could be moved when you’re out on the lawn. A patio shade is a good option too as it will cover that whole area. It will cost a little more, though, so depends on how much you have to spend.
